LFI Georges Pompidou School wins at the first Emirates Islamic National School League Football championship

On a thrilling final day, LFI Georges Pompidou School emerged as the winners in the U-14 and U-16 categories of the first 'Emirates Islamic National School League - Football' championship, held on Saturday, 6 Feb 2016 at The 7evens, Dubai.

Former French international and Champions League winner, Mikael Silvestre attended the finals, which lived up to the expectations of the spectators with a dazzling display of all-round football.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Wael Ibrahim, COO, Emirates Islamic said, "Emirates Islamic was delighted to offer young football enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy themselves and showcase their skills at the first Emirates Islamic National School Football League. It was wonderful to see the passion and determination of these youngsters and we are hoping that some of the rising stars of today will turn into sporting legends tomorrow. Through events like this, we aim to continue to support community initiatives that promote a healthy and happy lifestyle among the next generation."

The 2015-2016 Emirates Islamic National School League - Football saw participation from 77 teams from 49 schools across the UAE, comprising under 16s & under 14s.
