Important Security Information

Internet fraudsters are increasingly targeting online banking users through a number of creative methods. One of the most commonly used is called "Phishing".

With this technique, the fraudsters send you an authentic-looking email that appears to come from your bank, but in reality have been sent to you by imposters in an attempt to obtain your personal and financial information. These emails direct you to click on links that re-direct you to fraudulent websites, which have been designed to make you think that you are actually on the original bank site.

The fake site will then ask you to enter information ranging from your user name and password to your date of birth, all designed to get details from you that will help them commit fraud.

Protecting Yourself From Phishing

To help protect you against Phishing attacks, please remember the following:

  • The bank will never you emails that ask for confidential information like account information, credit/debit card details, PIN or other internet banking details. If you receive an email requesting such personal details, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND
  • The bank will never send you an email asking you to verify your secure online banking details. Any email asking you to "verify your account", "confirm your sign in details", or using similar language is an attempt to extract information for fraudulent purposes
  • The bank will send you promotional emails from time to time, however, these emails will NEVER contain links for product information, application forms or to online banking. If you are in any doubt about whether an email is genuine, please do not click on any links within the message
  • If you get a suspicious email that claims to be from Emirates Islamic please report it immediately to 600 599995
  • And finally, always have the latest online security/Anti-virus software installed on your computer. You should also keep it updated regularly to get protection from new viruses and rogue programs.

What to do if you suspect a phishing / scam email

  • Do not click on any links included in the email
  • Forward the email to EI representative or the call centre
  • If you have anti-virus software on your computer - run it to check for infections
  • Delete the email from your computer
