Documents you need to open an account

Have all your documents ready to accelerate the opening of your accounts

Account Types

The documents you need to open an account with us depend on whether you are opening an individual, non-individual, minor, joint or company account.

For joint account applications, you will need to provide all the documents for each account holder. In some cases, we may require additional documents. If this is the case, we will inform you in due course.

Important!

To open an account with us, you must be at least 18 years old and have an active mobile number in the UAE.

Required Documents

UAE Nationals

  • A copy of your passport with the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form)

Individual Resident

  • A copy of your passport with the UAE residence visa page and the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form)
  • If you’re a GCC national and do not have an Emirates ID, you will need one of these documents:
    • A letter from your employer
    • Utility bill (not older than 3 months)
    • Tenancy contract (in your name)

If you want to open a current account, payroll account or salary transfer account, you will need one of the following documents:

  • Your most recent salary certificate (not older than 3 months)
  • A copy of your appointment letter or contract
  • Your pay slip (not older than 3 months)
  • Most recent statement of the account to which your salary is transferred (not older than 3 months)

Individual Non-Resident

  • Your passport
  • Proof of employment or self-employment such as a salary certificate, employment contract, trade license or bank statement
  • One of these documents to verify your address:
    • Utility bill (not older than 3 months)
    • Bank statement (not older than 3 months) (online statements are acceptable)
    • Reference letter from a bank in your home country confirming the duration and nature of your relationship with that bank and your residential address (at least 12 months)

Minor Accounts

  • Copy of the minor’s passport along with the UAE residence visa page and the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form)
  • Copy of the guardian’s passport along with the UAE residence visa page and the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form) (where the guardian is the father/has been appointed by the court based on customer residency type)
  • For current accounts opened for customers aged 18-21 years, legal contracting capacity is granted by the court after the customer turns 18 years of age

Joint Accounts

  • Copy of the primary account holder’s passport along with the UAE residence visa page and the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form)
  • Copies of all joint applicants’ passports along with UAE residence visa page and original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form) (where the guardian is the father/has been appointed by the court based on customer residency type)

Deposit Accounts

  • A copy of the primary account holder’s passport along with the UAE residence visa page and the original Emirates ID (Original passport in case of expired or lost Emirates ID along with a copy of the Emirates ID renewal or reissuance form)

Note: an active current account or savings account is mandatory to open any type of Investment Term Deposit or Wakala Deposit.

Company/Entity Accounts

Sole Proprietorships/Partnerships

  • Complete Emirates Islamic Account Opening Form signed by the authorised signatories. (Signature on the signature card should be in black pen only)
  • Copy of valid original passport and residence visa for sole proprietor or partners
  • Copy of valid Emirates ID for sole proprietor or partners
  • Copy of valid trade license
  • Copy of valid Chamber of Commerce certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of registration certificate (if applicable)
  • Certified copy of partnership deed/agreement (for partnership)
  • Board resolution to open and operate the account (if applicable)

Limited Liability Company

  • Complete Emirates Islamic Account Opening Form signed by the authorised signatories. (Signature on the signature card should be in black pen only)
  • Copy of valid original passport and residence visa for all directors and the signatory/ies
  • Copy of valid Emirates ID for sole proprietor or partners
  • Copy of valid trade license
  • Copy of valid Chamber of Commerce certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of registration certificate (if applicable)
  • Certified copy of the Memorandum/Article of Association
  • Board resolution to open and operate the account (if applicable)

Free Zone Entities (FZE/FZC)

  • Complete Emirates Islamic Account Opening Form signed by the authorised signatories. (Signature on the signature card should be in black pen only)
  • Copy of valid original passport and residence visa for all directors and the signatory/ies
  • Copy of valid Emirates ID for sole proprietor or partners
  • Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Free Zone Authority
  • Copy of share certificate
  • Letter from the Free Zone Authority to open an account (In case of under formation entity)
  • Certified copy of the Memorandum/Article of Association (for FZC only)
  • Board resolution to open and operate the account (if applicable)

Foreign Registered/Incorporation Entities

  • Complete Emirates Islamic Account Opening Form signed by the authorised signatories. (Signature on the signature card should be in black pen only)
  • Copy of valid original passport and residence visa for all directors and the signatory/ies
  • Copy of original certificate of incorporation
  • Certified copy of the Memorandum/Article of Association
  • Board resolution to open and operate the account (if applicable)

Other Type of Constitutions

  • Introduction/Good Standing/Bank Reference
  • Copy of the approval letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and copy of the appointing letter from the Ambassador/Consular General of the home country (attested)
  • Copy of permit from the Ministry of Education
  • Copy of permit from the Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs
  • Approval for deferral, if any
  • Blacklist/irregularity check

Remarks: The originals need to be sighted and photocopies must be stamped with notation “Original Seen” and signed
